If you’d like to listen to Ray Charles on Tuesday evening you’d better go to District Saint-Joseph. Located in the heart of Saint-Roch district, next to Le Cercle and Imperial, District Saint-Joseph is another venue which surprises positively. Unique in its form, District becomes a restaurant during the day and a bar and music venue in the evenings. District every evening serves varied art experiences such as good music, theatre plays or dancings, but if you expect to hear Ray Charles drop in on Tuesday. Every Tuesday jam session is organised there and you might hear absolutely outstanding talents and yeah, one night I heard there a guy who was singing exactly like Ray. Going to District is would be also a good choice on Saturday evening when Groove & Booze evening is on, directed by good local band The Black Coffees. On the drums you may hear Jonathan Perron. He’s one of the greatest local drummers.
Writing this post after coming back Poland and after seeing a great number of shows I can admit without doubts that these jam sessions are number one for me, but it’s also true that a success of jam session depends on artists that show up on given night and it is never certain if a show of next week will be same kind.
